In 2006 my mom calls me and tells me she's going into the hospital. She tells me she has "IT". The dreaded BC word. I was in the mall. I remember stopping dead in my tracks in fear. My mom tells me they want to remove her breast and that she worries about her nipples. her nipples for gosh sake. I tell her it's better that than her life. I have to say that as one of the most scaryest phone calls in my life.

The research done in the past and in the future has saved her life. She is alive. She has new boobs, but she's still alive and with me and us.

I love you mom.

Nice one! Somehow nipple-less thing didn't bother me, it just seemed logical. Somehow I like how you presented breast cancer - even if you lose a nipple, you're still sexy.
